About The Tour
London has a history spanning 2000 years and is one of the most exciting cities on earth. Your personal guide will bring the history alive as they regale you with some of its many fascinating tales.
See Buckingham Palace, the residence of His Majesty King Charles III and watch the centuries old Changing of the Guard ceremony (the guard change does not happen every day out of summer season, see Changing of the Guard schedule).
Choose to take a stroll with your guide through the beautiful Royal St James’s Park, with a fascinating array of birds and its pretty lake past the residence of Prince Charles and St James’s Palace, built for King Henry VIII to the Horse Guards Parade, where you can view the Household Cavalry guarding the entrance to the Palace precincts.
Continue your panoramic, viewing Downing Street, the home of our Prime Ministers, since the very first! See the incredible architecture of Westminster Palace, better known as the Houses of Parliament and the clock Tower affectionately known as Big Ben, but what really is Big Ben?
On to the splendid Westminster Abbey - every coronation since 1066 has taken place on a church on this spot, the current church dating back to the 13th century. Learn which monarchs were never crowned and why! There are over 3000 burials within and the church is packed to the rafters with exciting stories and some very surprising ones too! (You may choose to skip those long lines and visit inside the Abbey with your British Tours guide. Entrance fees apply).
Then take in some views of the river Thames and the world’s tallest cantilevered observation wheel, the London Eye, as you head to the absolute centre of London, Trafalgar Square, dominated by a statue of Lord Admiral Nelson, the victor of the Battle of Trafalgar in 1805. Here the amusing story of how Nelson was returned to England after his death at the battle he won!

Venture further west, to view the world’s most famous department store Harrods; Kensington Palace, the birthplace of Queen Victoria and now home to William and Kate; the incredible memorial commissioned by Queen Victoria for her beloved husband and the wonderful museums and the largest of London’s Royal Parks, Hyde Park.
On to the heart of London’s buzzing West End, Piccadilly Circus, Leicester Square, China Town, Soho and Covent Garden. Covent Garden makes an excellent lunch stop, providing a wide variety of small historic cafes and the more fancy restaurants. (Lunch not included).
The afternoon takes you to the oldest part of London, the City, with the magnificent masterpiece St Paul’s Cathedral, built after the Great Fire of London and one of the most stunning buildings in the world. This awe-inspiring monument can also be visited with your British Tours guide and if you are feeling energetic, you can climb the 376 steps of the Dome for unparalleled views across the City’s skyline.
Choose to meander a little through the city’s narrow streets and alleyways, where the old meets the new, view a 200 year old Roman temple, bombed out churches and little squares and a delightful Victorian marketplace, that will be very familiar to any Harry Potter fans!
Your wonderful day draws to a close as you continue to the Tower of London, with over 900 years of history within its walls. Three Queens of England lost their heads inside and two Kings of England were murdered here. Opt to visit inside with your guide to see the priceless crown jewels and hear fascinating tales of murder, escape, torture and even birds, who protect the Tower and in turn the monarchy from crumbling! You will also see the spectacular Tower Bridge, London Bridge and the Monument to the Great Fire of London.
